Dividing Fractions with Fraction Tiles

Division can be thought of as finding how many times the second number fits inside the first number. To find 1/4 ÷ 1/3, place a yellow 1/4 tile and then place an orange 1/3 tile below it. Since the common denominator of 1/4 and 1/3 is 12, place a train of 1/12 tiles on a third row. Now notice that the 1/3 tile fits inside the 1/4 tile 3/4 of a time, so 1/4 ÷ 1/3 equals 3/4.
