Understanding Area with Geoboard

A square with a side length of 1 unit is called a "unit square". The area of a figure is the number of unit squares that completely cover it without overlap. Make a rectangle that is 3 units high and 2 units wide. It takes 6 unit squares to cover the figure, so the rectangle has an area of 6 square units. Try making figures that have a different shape but the same area.
